Newcastle and Lake Macquarie will host the 2022 Australian Deaf Games next year.

Today the games were launched, one year out from the start of the event, with a Silent Touch Football Challenge played on the lawns outside Newcastle Museum.

Ceremonies coordinator Andrew Wiltshire then hosted the launch.

From April 16-22 the region will host over 1,000 athletes from across Australia and the Pacific to compete in 16 medal and 4 demonstration sports.
